Looking for any suggestions on installation/set-up for communication equip. in Ford van cab. Need to install fax, laptop, printer, etc. Used to be worried about the back...now have to find better way to " live " with the need to send and receive info on site. There was a tech who recently talked about his setup. Hope he would be willing to share ideas so I only have to do this once. Thanks for any and all help. Like I say...If she was rich instead of beautiful, I wouldn't be doing this for a living!! Better days to all!!

Thanks for the help and have a great day!!

You will probably find that alot of the manufactures who make the dividers and shelving for vans will have products that may fit your needs. I know several years ago the had complete desk & filing systems that bolted down between the seats.

My experience is that it is very useful to set up a mobile office in service van. Heres a couple of points to keep in mind.
1. set up a second battery with a recharging module and a voltage converter from 12volt dc to 120 ac with capacity to handle and charge your equipment and even recharge batteries for your cordless tools. I carried a laptop, a mobile canon printer, a PDA.and a satellite GPS tracker to use with laptop and route my service calls find addresses, gas stations, or anything on the map.
2. Make sure the laptop can withstand constant vibration while in transit. An cushion cover to laptop is useful. and of course reduce the amount of dust that will be collected while in use.
3. I built a wooden center console in my 1996 GMC Van with a lift cover to carry laptop, printer store blank invoices, and supplies. Most of my supply catalog I found or created disk to carry versus a bunch of catalogs. Grainger updates their own and will provide online.
4. A good wireless pc card for internet access is good to shop around with vendors, or pay for hotspots service, stop at kinkos, or starbucks. no need to go in for coffee just park in front n wifi is available.
good luck, I am no longer a service tech. but had some fun and long days and missed holidays to remember.
