I am looking at some Honeywell programmable thermostats for use on our Trane rooftop HVAC units in our main office. I have a Chronotherm T8600 at home, and it works like a charm, and seems to have all the functionality I would need at our office as well.

Question, what's the difference b/w a good residential programmable thermostat, and a honeywell commercial programmable, besides $120?

Thanks,

John

The residential thermostats are one stage heat one stage cool and the commercial are two stage heat two stage cool.

Xenos.

The best way to escape a problem is to solve it.

Commercial grade tstats usually have a higher internal contact rating, how many amps the thermostat contacts are good for. There are a lot of commercial single stage systems out there, especially when you are looking at the 12 - 20 year range.
