I recently purchased a building with excellent 1986 Lennox HAC units and programmable thermostats. The instructions say programming the unit is possible when it is in heat/cool mode by pressing A, B, C or D once or twice for heat/cool settings. I have reset everything to 78 (only use cool, no need for heat) on each setting (heat and cool) for all four programs. But, units cool to 72 or 70 at varying times. One unit appears to be two four ton units twinned or staged. However, I'm having the same problem with a single three ton unit with the same kind of programmable thermostat. The thermostat has a bar at top right with seven spaces which appear to represent the day of the week.
When programming, all seven spaces are filled in. When unit is running, it fills in the appropriate space for the day of week. A cursory pass through all stages shows the 78 setting.
What's causing the units to seek the lower temperature?

Thanks

Ok that’s an Enerstat. Lennox is just big enough enerstat OEM’d it to them. Ok we have 4 time programs X 7 days and ABCD, in each we have 2 different settings one for heat and one for cool. When your looking at the programming make sure to select the heat/cool button and look for the icicle or you will be changing the heat setpoint. Also note the only way to turn up the cooling set point is to first turn up the heating one.

Also make sure to press resume program when leaving the thermostat, and to override the time delays just press and hold the appropriate letter to the program you are in.

Xenos.
