Any conversion attempted on a centrifugal chiller should be an engerneered conversion where you work through the manufacturer.

For the cost of a new 1250 TR chiller, you'ld save money in the end after you consider the costs involved to rewied the motor, replace the gaskets, vanes, relief valves and all the vent piping, upgrade the starter, possibly have to install a soft starter to handle the start load. Thats also not including the requirements to install refrigerant monitoring and alarm system, ventilation system, thats required for a high pressure machine. In the long term, a new machince could save you client operating $$$.

Eric, I don’t believe at this time there are any centrifugal chiller mechanics on the site.

Your right Hal, Carrier would certainly want to help out. Right down to taking over the contract on the chillers!
