I'm a owner of a small commericial building, the heat exchanger went out on an old York. THe qusestion is there is a 1,500 dollar difference between Trane and the others. IS one better than the other? The york model number D3CG060N103258 is this a decent model. Any help would be great.

Chris

The newer style Lennox 'L' series are very nice machines, and easy to service. I would recommend those to anyone who wants somethine to compete with a Trane unit, which has always been my first choice for dependability.

The 'L' series takes all the guesswork out of troubleshooting problems with their 'on board diagnostics'. And the reheat coil on the dehumidification model helps cut energy costs while adding a comfort level not available on most other equipment.
These things are essentially a rooftop Liebert when outfitted properly.

Let me say at this time that I do not work for Lennox or any of their subsidiaries. I am just very impressed with that particular piece of equipment.

Trane has some very nice equipment as well. Their Precadent(sp?) units are very nice, and very energy efficient, but can baffle a green technician who hasn't had any training on them very easily. For that matter, they can baffle a seasoned tech as well.

Carrier equipment, in my opinion is bottom of the barrel. They used to be very highly regarded. But the new stuff is garbage. Only buy that if it's all you can afford.

York is okay, but overpriced for the quality you get. They specialize in the bigger stuff which is their bread and butter.

I'd stay away from Rheem, and if someone suggests a Coleman, run, don't walk.

I've been in the business for 21 years now, and just about seen it all.

Hope this helps you out.

If it don't fit force it.

If it breaks it needed to be replaced anyways.

Trane is normally the "High Priced Spread". However; check the warranties, performance and local service available in your area. In the long run Trane may be cheaper depending on how long you plan to own the property. Another option is American Standard (owns Trane) but is somewhat lower in price.

All refrigerants are safe - All refrigerant are dangerous. The difference is YOU !!!

I have heard that Carrier rooftop units are not very dependable. This is just heresay of course. But I do work for a residential Carrier distributor. And this is the concensus around my shop. We try to install Lennox rooftops on commercial jobs.

Hope this helps.
