Hey guys I got a tough one for ya. I recently turned the heat on an old John Zinc rooftop unit(gas) and it took out the t-stat. i went up on the roof and checked it out and it had tripped one of the two transformers connected to it, nothing was running. i reset it and went back and the t-stat was on. so i turned the heat on again and ran back up, and the blower contactor started flickerin on and off and makin all this noise. then it tripped the transformer again and everything shut off. i reset it again and tried it in cooling mode and it worked just fine. any ideas why the contactor is going crazy in heat mode?

If it doesn't trip on cooling or fan only, then there must be a short or ground in the 24 volt heating circuit. Check all the components one by one to find the problem.
