I have a small multi-unit building consisting of 3 stories, 5 total rooms, and 1864 total square feet. The central unit is original to the 1978 build year. Each room has a seperate outside ac condenser (total of 5), but one air mover for the whole building in the attic. My bill last month was $422.00 for the whole building. I only have 1 meter for the building. My question is what unit should I upgrade to that would match what I currently have? Preferably with a 12 SEER rating. 4 of the outside condensers ventilate 4 of the rooms each 300 square feet with the 5th condenser ventilating the 5th room which is 600. square feet. Thank you very much for any help.

Hi,

This scenario is hard to picture, 1800sq ft and 4 units to handle them. I would look into installing one unit and zoning each room seperately I have to beleive that this would be more cost effective, in the long run.

This is extreamly hard to picture, 5 A/C's each for it's own room and 1 main air handler. Where are the 5 Evaporators? how are they conected? The unit on the roof is it only make up air?

Xenos.

The best way to escape a problem is to solve it.

If it were mine I believe I'd just stick some individual window shakers in whatever rooms I wanted to control temperature wise.

with 300-600 sq ft spaces this should be easy to do.

Much easier to control costs that way, and if a fan or something breaks the whole place won't shut down, just one space.

If it don't fit force it.

If it breaks it needed to be replaced anyways.
