Xenos is correct as to the issues with moisture in a system. Severe cases can result in orfices in TXV's freezing closed causing the valve to become inoperative. The more subtle problem is with foreign materials, copper and brass particles, etc. acting as a catalyst in the presence of moisture, refrigerant , oil and heat. The resulting chemical reaction can form acids which cause corrosion of system components and the sludging of oil.
All refrigerants are safe - All refrigerant are dangerous. The difference is YOU !!!

I have heard of the outlet of the metering device freezing up and acting like a defective valve. For my self I have always equated moisture to acid so I'm not quite sure how long you can have moisture before it turns to acid.
Xenos.
The best way to escape a problem is to solve it.
