hey all i was wondering i have a 3ton trane unit with a hermetic compressor. i start the unit up and the suction pressure is around 70 but my discharge pressure goes from 225 till 375 and cuts out on high pressure. i cant for the life of me find the problem. its a water cooled unit there is sufficent water flow, the strainer was cleaned, can it possibly be the condensor shell is filthy? or a faulty compressor valve? please help

Where does the water come from (tower, pond, etc)? Try measuring the water temps in and out of the unit while running. You should be getting 5 -10 degrees of rise. If not you may be fouled or moving too much water. If the rise is higher you may be short of flow. Has this unit been opened and possibly contains non-condensibles (air) or is overcharged? How long have this problem existed? Suddenly or over time?
All refrigerants are safe - All refrigerant are dangerous. The difference is YOU !!!

How did you test the water flow? Did you open up the valve all the way and did the pressure change at all? I bet you it is insufficient water flow. It is not neccesary the regulator valve is bad. It could be just the water supply is low. Open the supply line before the regulator valve and check the water flow.
