I changed an r-12 system out to hot shot. It cooled for about a week. It quit. I went and found the main switch faulty I replaced the switch. with no load, it's cooling to 35*. That's where we want it. However, the compressor is really hot. The suction is 20#. High side is 115#. Any ideas???

thanks for the reply. That was my thinking but the compressor is smoking hot. I didn't do an amp draw. It seemed like it was cooling down good and I figured that it would either last or it wouldnt

20 degree on suction, 115 on discharge. i did a little math, and ur unit is a high temperature Application, and has a 3:1 ratio. which is not bad. and 115+ 50= 165
and the cylinder temperature is around 165--190 degree.
study for hvacr bs degree
