The best way to replace the bearings is to send the comperssor to a rebuild shop were they can not only replace the bearings but also check the runout. It takes quite a few years to LEARN how to rebuild a semihermitic so that it'll last more than a few weeks in operation. So, your best bet, for both you and your customer is to have the work done by people who do this professionaly.
No matter how idiot proof you make something better idiots will always try and screw around with it!

in most cases it is considerably easier and much faster to valve off and swap compressors.
doing that type of work in the field is nightmarish at best, and an absolute pain in the arse from there.
do yourself and your customer a favor and just swap it out.
