I'm wiring up a thermostat to an 8 year old Trane rooftop unit. (Trane YCD060C3L0BE) 5 ton single stage heat/cool. Right now there are only 4 wires for the thermostat R,G,W,Y. I need a common. Unfortunately the terminals are labeled 1 - 20. I checked out the schematic and I'm lost. Anybody know which would be common? I need 24v AC. I guess I could just test with a volt meter, but I'd like to get the right one. I'm wiring up an AprilAire 8870 and it needs 24v for operation. I don't have it on a controller yet.
Thanks in Advance! -Marvin

There is no common! You have a unit that uses Trane electronic controls and needs a zone sensor in place of a T-stat. In order to use a conventional T-stat you will need a CTI (conventional thermoste interface) board. Local Trane parts house should have it. Also, the signal to the sensor is 5 VDC not 24v.
All refrigerants are safe - All refrigerant are dangerous. The difference is YOU !!!
