working on low temp walk-in freezer, ran on ref.- 502 changed to 404a drop in ref./ left same 502 expansion valve, having problem , temperature will not drop below 18 degrees farh.

How about some more info? ie: SH, low and high side readings, SC.
Did you change the lubricant to POE? 404a uses POE. 502 uses mineral

404A is not a drop in for 502, what you want is 408A. If you put 404A in the system and ran it you will need to change the oil and add new driers to the system.
