I currently have a Gaffer and Sattler coil on top of my heating unit. I believe the model # is 3/3-5eru-c3, serial # B07615L and there is another number 048-4067600. I also believe it is a 10 sear unit.
It is leaking and the guy who came to our location through our home protection warranty has stated these units are no longer available and we have to switch to a 13 sear unit and also replace the furnace on which the coil sits to the tune of another $3200 past the warrantied $8--.00 coil replacement.

Does anyone know where to get the replacement coil? Is this guy trying to rip us off on his opinion? As this is California, is there a law stating I can't replace my 10 sear unit with the 10 sear replacement if I can find it? HELP.

Get some unbiased advice! I think there are many evaporator coils that will fit your furnace. Ask if the coil even effects the SEER rating. You are probably grandfathered into the #10 SEER that you now have. Find out if the law is retroactive to cover any changes in the system.

SEER: SEASONAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY RATIO: The average cooling efficiency over an entire cooling season.

Unless your coil is about to turn to dust, you could have the leak repaired for less than $3200, and forget about SEER.
