Is there any particular magazine/publication/whatever that's the "main" communciations channel to the HVAC community?

We have a product [a terminal emulator] for the Palm Treo phone/PDA and we've noticed that we have a _lot_ of sales to HVAC people. To the point where Johnson Controls is our biggest single customer. Apparently, building control systems have dial up/telnet interfaces, so our app is all you need to control a building remotely.

The problem is communication. HVAC folks aren't in a big rush to hang out on PDA forums, and certainly we're only here because someone was nice enough to give us a pointer. But these folks are getting big milage out of the app, so we were thinking about running an ad for this community. Is there any publication that would be a particularly good place for it? The thing 'everyone' reads to stay current?

I would reccomend "The News" to start with. Im sure advertising would be cheaper and they have quite a few customers. The target for this news magazine are Hvac contractors. The web site is achrnews.com

There are different magazines for different folks. Two that should get you wide exposure are ASHRAE MAGAZINE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers) headquartered in Atlanta. The other is RSES (Refrigeration Service Engineers Society) in Des Plains,Ill. Both have web sites.

We have been interfacing with BAS systems for years in this industry and there are several terminal emulators out there.

Good Luck

Thanks kindly for the pointers. We did look around and see a lot of references to Hyperterminal out there, which we're an ideal replacement for. No point heading to the nearest PC when you can just run it from your pocket!

We're always looking for better bits of 'cheese' too.

If anyone wanted to post their "I always wished Hyperterminal did X" or "This X feature is really annoying", we'd love to hear it!
