have a reznor model rihvl 90 not sure if it is propane or natural gas,i want to set it up for propane,printed out all the manuals for it , plan to run it off of a 40 lb propane tank for the garage , will i need a regulator on the tank when it has a gas valve regulatoron the heater , i hooked it up with both but could not get the gas valve on the heater to open. hope you can help!

If you look at the gas valve you will see if it says 3.5 W.C. or 10 W.C. the lower one is natural gas. If it is nat don't try to run it on propane without changing the orfices or pound em down with a punch and drill em to the corect size. as foro the gas valve "what he said"

With propane you typically need to either remove the regulator spring from the gas valve or install a gas valve without an internal regulator. The regulator at the tank should be the only regulator you need. You will also most likely need to change the burner orifices.
