When sytem is set for heat and reversing valve energizes, you can feel the suction line get hot for approx. 4 minutes then it goes cool. Therefore losing the requested discharge heat from the vent.Have check refrig level, defrost control, selonoid, all seem to be operating proper.any thoughts?
thanks for any feedback PriceRA

it has been my experience, that you have a sticking reversing valve. sometimes you can get them to shift completly by shifting manually, by removing & reconnecting repeatable about, every 10 sec. if not successful, try banging with a hammer, while attempting to shift, careful not to damage shifting tubes, or you will still have to replace valve anyway. make sure compressor valves are good, befor replacing valve. Antonetz, r.p. hope this helps. let me know.

thanks alot for responding,i have replaced the reversinsing valve with a new one,an i am still having the same trouble.i was checking it out after installing new valve and noticed on the liquid line site glass i have no refrig moving through and i am leaning toward the alco catch all (filter/drier) installed in the line.when i do a manual shift of the rev valve i notice a small trickle through the glass then after approx 3 mins it is blank any ideas? and thanks again for responding what state you in? you should have already installed a bi-flow dryer when you open your freon system & installed your new valve. but that is not your problem with your operation now, but down the line the filter will be a must. your sight glass if flow is low it should bubble, if clear, indicates to me it full of liquid, how does your system run in the cooling mode, i would check compressor valves for proper operation, if o.k, check & insure your metering device at the evaporator. ohio, antonetz r.p.

thank you for responding again,i realize now that i should have installed the drier when replacing the rvers, valve. system runs excellent in the cooling mode, just when it switches to heat it appears there is some sort of odstruction at the catch all,i believe this because i get not bubbles or any other sign that any fluid of any kind is returning from the from the airhandler coils.i have odered a filter drier, will pick up on thrusday ,i will let you know what happens after i install it. i really thank you for your time.
