Today I was sent to service a Ruud 3.5 ton heat pump with an ECM motor. The start up failed, did the re-wire, unit runs fine in cool. Now, in heat mode, the unit runs an very hot liquid line (3/4), and shuts off on high pressure. I have tried speeding up the fan , and there is no restriction of air flow apperant. I was not there for the install, so I don't know much else. Help!!

What were the pressures,temps? The 3/4 line is the dischsrge line which should be hot. Charge, undersized duct, mismatched coils, non-condensibles? What was the OD temp, ID temp?
