Hi Techs, I have a 1ton Carrier unit that tripps the breaker every time its energized. Wondering where to start looking for the problem.

If you are tripping your high voltage breaker. My first instinct says grounded compressor. Check the 3 compressor legs to ground.

If you're speaking of the breaker for your outdoor unit, most likely your compressor is locked or grounded. You can try installing a hard-start kit to assist compressor at startup.

Be safe

Electrical grouding. Check all motors for electrical integrity if the breaker your tripping is high voltage.
Check the control circuit if your tripping your 3.2 amp breaker located in the unit/transformer.

Hope this helps.
