I just got an awseome matinence job but now i have to fix the york 2 stage rooftop. Stage 2 cooling never runs but stage 1 or y1 always runs. nothing came on for the stage 2 no condensor fan nothing. its hooked up to a honeywell 2 stage thermostat. Do i just have to set the thermostat or is there some problem with the unit?

is it a chiller unit if so your unit only uses stage two if stage one is not keeping the water at the set point if you want to try this you could change stage two compressor and stage one compressor wiring and make stage two your stage one and so forth i have a four stage york unit and have only had all four stage's running when the temp out side get's above 95 deg.
