I have a lennox roof top unit that has six wires - R,W1,W2,Y1,Y2,G - and had the thermostat replaced - but the guy who replaced it got a thermostat that only has R,W,Y,G connections so he connected the W1&W2 to the W and Y1&Y2 to the Y and said that it would work fine - it turned on but i am worried that the system will run too much or it will create a problem latter on. Can Anyone Help? Will it work? or cause a headache for me latter on?

Install a two stage heat and two stage cooling thermostat just like the MFG. intended to be used... Also have someone eles check you charge levels. frosting of suction line, maybe dirty coil, maybe under charge?.. Have a "technician" check it out...
hope this helps
Not knowing all the answers is human knowing how to find the right answer is an ART :)

It has a econminizer - I monitored it on A/C and the condenser and fan would turn on initially - then after three minutes the condenser would shut off while the fan stayed on - five minutes later the condenser would kick back on and so forth. I noticed the line was freezing. I changed filters, blower assembly looks fine.

you still did not tell me the model # most of these units have a freez stat but you will need at least y1 and Y2 with an economizer.

What is the model of the unit.If it is a small unit with no economizer you might not need 2h 2c.The new lennox tga under 5t has 2 stage heat.

yes you need 2h 2c tstat because that unit is a 7.5ton rtu and has a low fire and high fire for gas. You need two stages of cool for the economizer to work when the temp and humidity are low so you can have free cooling.
