I bought a house and decided to replace the T-stat (I wanted a stat that could have the fan come on at predetermined times to cycle the air)

The old stat is a White Rodgers 1F90W-51. Here is a link to it http://www.white-rodgers.com/wrdhom/pdfs/instruction_sheets/0037-5089rev_A.pdf

I purchased a LuxPro:
http://www.luxproproducts.com/pdfs/pspa711_pspa722_eng.pdf

The White Rogers has the standard 4 wire hook up for gas heating/cooling (W, R, G, Y) as does the new stat.

Out of the wall all the colors match except the yellow terminal is being connected to a blue wire. Yup as people say - ignore the colors of the wires and pay attention to WHERE they are hooked up. (Figure 7 of the WR manual). Everything works fine.

After reading this forum, I did what people say unhook each terminal, label the wire and hook up to the new stat.

Ok, but when I hook up to the LuxPro (fig top of page 11), the heat and fan work but A/C does not. To me, it seems as if the Blue Wire being hooked up to the Y1 connector is the culprit (even though the blue-colored wire was hooked to yellow on the original stat).

I poked around the hole in the wall and saw a disconnected orange wire. Also, two more wires (black and yellow) were apparently hooked to some Aprilaire Humidifier (I still have some snooping to do to verify).

Again, everything works fine w/ old stat, but the new stat doesn't have air.

Any insight into my problem.

-Thanks (Ted)

Yes, I did and then some...

The jumper was already installed, so I left it in. Next, I took the unit to my old house where I had a working Lux already installed. After hooking the new one up and seeing the cooling not work I started to think I had a bad unit. Hmmm.

So, I took a trip to a hardware store and bought another Lux, but a different model. This one had only 4-wire connections, so it's hard to screw up the install. Again, cooling doesnt come on. When I re-install the original White Rogers (which also has 4 terminals) it works fine.

Suggestions?

Ok, I got this solved. It was wired correctly.

The older Lux's I used to use had the Heat or A/C come on as soon as the Tstat commanded it so. (Obvious)

After calling Lux tech support, all 2007 model Lux's have a built in delay of a few minutes before turning on AC. So when I was testing heat/cool the unit was truely working.

Anyhow - I figured I pass this on...
