| "Question Regarding Failed Copeland Scrolls" , posted Mon 27 Aug 19:28
In the last year I have encountered not less than seven failed compressors, all manufactured by Copeland, and on equipment less than a year old.
Five have been on Lennox, and two on AAON units.
They all have a similar symptom; They develope a leak at or near the crankcase heater thru the shell of the compressor.
A few of the systems were acidic and needed a cleanup, and I had one instance where the same machine had a compressor failure that had been replaced 6 months prior.
In every instance, the crankcase heater was still in good working order, and could not be found faulty.
They are all the same compressor model and voltage.
M# ZR144KC-TFD-950.
Any comments or similar experiences?
