What would be causing the flame rollout switch to keep tripping. Also a very bad odor coming from flue box that burns the eyes

Carriers are natorious for bad heat exchangers,we call it the 5 yr heat exchanger replacement program where I work.I bet if you take a co reading at the inducer motor discharge it will go off the scale.Carriers are also good for the inducer blower wheel falling apart.

first the unit is not burning correctly gas nat or propane your role out is tripping because of high heat flames will not burn correctly thru soot.its safty devise. check or remove heat exchanger and clean make sure flame retainers and all plates are in there get a cut sheet from manufacturer

Sounds like you may have a bad heat exchanger. Does the flame rollout at start up or when main blower energizes? model & Serial would be helpful.

Its a carrier weathermaker model 48dr601350. The flame does rollout at first. Could it maybe the flue tubes need cleaned because they look pretty bad.

Sounds like a bad heat exchanger.

Be careful sometimes you don't get a second chance

What is the model and serial. Is it propane or nat. If the unit is belt drive where the motor is there is a panel below it. Remove that panel and check if there is a crack in heat exchanger.
