My furnance heats and cools very well, however it has a hard time starting up. It kicks on and off before it starts to run, what could the problem be

Have to be more specific. Does the fire come on and off? Does the blower come on and off? Ill take a stab at it being the flame coming on and off, eventually staying on.
This is usually a flame sense issue, either a weak signal or poor contact with the fire. If poor contact just try cleaning with sandcloth the flame sensor, or rod. Often located on the furthest burner from the ignitor, although, sometimes the ignitor and sensor are the same (was a terrible idea). So, clean that and may go away. If still no luck, could be ignition module, generating a poor flame rec signal.
I like to measure flame signal first, then clean and measure again, so you know if you did anything. But, you may not have the means to do so.
Respond with more dtailed info, and i can help further.

the cycle is ..the burner comes up till the heat-x heats up ....then the fan comes on is the burner and or the fan cycling on or off?check the filter if you see light thru it its OK,with the power toggle off at the furnace pop the fan section cover and check the rounds on the squirrel cage might be rounded off with dirt,,,either of these things will cycle the burner on HI-LIMIT with air not going over the heat-x as designed.
It ain't going to get any lighter looking at it!
