The display is completely blank, even after replacing the battery. Any ideas? (The face of the unit was unplugged completely from the base. Is there some sort of reset or something?)

No low voltage power from furnace.
Post the make and model of your furnace or package unit for further assistance.
You might check the breakers and the light switch by the furnace. If the stat wire to your outdoor unit is damaged, it will pop your low voltage fuse in the furnace pc board.
Water around the furnace might indicate a tripped float switch.
"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.
