High head pressure and low suction sounds more like a malfunctioning TXV than a problem with adjustment. Make certain the TXV is working properly first. With TXV's you need to establish proper subcooling first.Once you have weighed in the charge. Allow the unit to run for 15 minutes. With a Sharpie , scribble a mark on the TXV body and stem as a point of referance. If you turn the stem clockwise you will increase superheat, counter-clockwise will decrease superheat. Count the revolutions and adjust no more than 2 turns at a time. Wait 10 minutes and check superheat.
