condenser fan shorted, got a new one. threw the breaker and fan ran for about 10 secs then stopped.after approx 3-4 mins, still no fan, shut it down. why wont fan run? dont want to kill compressor. any advice greatly appreciated, need walk in cooler to open new shop. ive been in heating-cooling for 20 yrs but remember little refrigeration theory beyond basic cycle

Good news is that this sounds like a electrical problem not refrigeration. So hopefully you still recall electrical theory.

Do you have voltage to the fan motor, and do you have the correct voltage motor?
