Hi guys at my workplace they did a reno project and in the process of reno-ing the office space they replaced the old mercury bulb thermostats with new digital Honeywell Focus Pro 6000 series t-stats.
Specifically the model that was installed as a TH6220D that supports both 2 stage heat/2 stage cool.
The roof top unit is a carrier all inclusive package (whether its 2 stage or not I'm not sure of but it does have ALL the terminals of a 2 stage system on the electronic control board)
The wires on the roof top unit are as follows:
Blue = C Green = G Orange = W2 Black/white = W1 Black = Y2 Red/white = Y1 Red = R Brown = X
I've connected everything to the t-stat EXCEPT the brown wire. The system heats/cools without a hitch but I can't tell if the unit on the roof is in fact a 2 stage unit or if the wires are all connected and actually serve a purpose. What is terminal X used for and what on earth does it connect to on the new digital t-stat?
Thanks

hooking up all the second stages won't do any damage if you have say a 2 compressor and slngle gas stage for heat.that X might be for an aux relay or filter signal on the old stat.check the wirin schematic for your W2 for second stage.if you have Y2/W2 up on the unit low voltage strip terminal(you won't have 2 gas valves as having 2 compressors.
It ain't going to get any lighter looking at it!
