The store my friend and I are renting has an old Lennox furnace (gh6d-80c-1). The service has been off since the previous tenant left in May. We're going to open for business in a week or so, and just got the gas company to reconnect the service last Friday. Initially, the gas technician told us there's a leak that must be fixed, which the contractor we hired did. The technician came back, found no more leak, opened the line, and lighted up the pilot.
After he left, the furnace beeped. We're confused as to why; we thought it did so because it's kicking in. It's been like this for the last 3 days. It beeps every time the fan is about to start and stays beeping for few more seconds. This morning (Monday) when I was in the store, the beeping sound was muffled but it's still there.
When I was looking up on the Internet for some explanations, I came across someone's posting about heat exchanger. I told my friend about this, which seemed to remind him that he forgot to tell me that when the gas technician found the leak, the guy mentioned something about the heat exchanger. I don't know if this missing piece of information has any importance because the "leak" has been fixed and the service is on.
Should I be worried about the heat exchanger? If there's something wrong with it, does it have anything to do with increased level of indoor CO2? I was thinking of calling the service guy that was suggested by the landlord, but I'd like to know what anybody in the forum has to say about this.

the beeping sound may be coming from a carbon monoxide detector somebody installed????
get somebody to look at it. Furnaces do not beep beep beep.
