I have read many threads and reviewed the wiring discussions on this BB and still have questions about my Honeywell T-8611G Thermostat.
I have a single speed heat pump, an air handling unit with electric strip heat.
I have no problem understanding the power (R), common (C), fan (G) or compressor (Y1) terminal connections. My questions:
1. My thermostat has a "O/B" terminal. I think it is currently wired straight through the air handler to the changeover valve on the heat pump. Is this correct?
2. There is a black wire connected to the "B" terminal and a pink wire connected to the "W2" terminal. There are no jumper wires. I have not had a chance to get into my air handler to see where these go but I am assuming that they are related to the electric heater. Is the "B" terminal related to heat?
I know that I need to get into the air handler and see where these wires terminate. I was just looking for some general guidance and, perhaps a wiring diagram (or four) for the thermostat.
This unit has been installed for 2 years and has never heated well. We have had our best luck switching to emergency heat and locking out the heat pump to get warm air to blow. I am suspect of the thermostat wiring since it was done by my GC since he did not want to get the HVAC guys back on site just to wire the thermostat. Shame on me.

that thermostat has a o/b terminal and it can be switched from energized in cooling or heating mode ( which is done in the internal programming )and from the factory it is set to energize in the cooling mode and bring the reversing valve in in cooling. There shouldnt be any B terminal on that stat! make sure it isnt a E terminal which is for emergency heat and will go directly to air handler to bring on the strip heat. the C terminal is for the common on that stat. so in reality the w2 and E terminal are one in the same because they both bring on the stip heat. if you have any other Q's just ask. good luck.

The B terminal is energized when the thermostat is switched to heating. The O terminal is energized when the thermostat is switched to cooling.
These terminals normally energies a reversing valve or a damper.
W2 is the standard for Aux heating.
WARNING… Some manufactures use the B terminal as Common power and not heating switch over.

What thermostat do you have ?
Xenos.
