Have a Carrier 58mvp gas furnace with a digital thermostat. This morning furnace was off and the digital readout blank. The furnace is displaying an error code of 33 which is called limit switch lookout. The furnace has two manual reset limit switchs but neither was triggered. Tested both switches with Ohm meter and both passed current. Any ideas out there?

Remove the front door and look straight ahead on the panel. This limit in mounted on the main panel and is sensing the air temperature inside the furnace.

Ok think i found the limit you talked about. jumped it and have power to the thermostat and furnace started. But says in the manual that the limit can be manually be reset and i cant seem to figure out where to do that? If i cant reset manually can i leave the jumper on overnight without damaging something before getting new part in the morning? Thanks for you help has been greatly appreciated

By resetting the main power would reset it. However I think it’s most likely defective.

Are you referring to the rollout switch to prevent overtemperture, mounted on the outside of the burner assembly?

It’s mounted on the panel it’s a piece of some sort of ceramic material of about 3 x 2 inches and flat with 2 wires going to it. The switch it’s self is behind this panel and may be a fusible link.
