The way I see it is there is a demand for an HCFC free residential cooling system and Carriers (United technologies) answer was Puron. I’m sure it’s been good to them and for the margins their getting I guess they could run a promotion for life time compressor warranty. Lets not forget they are in the DOW 30 ( 30 largest companies). However I am not ready to bet that it will last. Puron has yet to break the residential market and Refrigerant manufactures already have direct replacements for HCFC-22. RS-24,RS-44,SP-22C are among a few. I’m willing to sit back and see what the next 10 years bring.

I am glad to here that there are some replacements for r22. After reading Genetrons "The Allocation and Phaseout of R22" I was a little worried. As popular as 22 is in residential app. I was thinking that there has to be a replacement or "drop in".
Thanks,

I read thru the website, it was informantive. The phaseout looks like it will be slower and more controlled than the r12 thing. Back then prices junped from 200 to 600 per #30 quickly. I will still probably buy a pallet of the stuff to keep at the shop though. Good site...e
