You need to know the Voltage, RPM, HP, shaft size and frame.
Xenos.
The best way to escape a problem is to solve it.

In addition to what Xenos said you need to know direction of rotation. Most generic motors are reversable so direction won't matter but what if you bought one that wasn't reversable and was turning the wrong direction?
I would also make sure it is totally enclosed to keep out the rain. Don't forget to move the drain plug from bottom to top. Moisture can condense inside the shell and if there is no drainage it will ruin the motor.
Find out what kind of capacitor it takes and order one of those as well.
If the motor gets dropped on the shaft end during transport it will lockup the shaft. When you receive the motor make sure the shaft turns freely by hand.
