I have a Lennox AC unit that is giving me headaches. The first problem was the unit blew the fan motor. I replaced the motor with a comparable motor (all specs are the same) but not the recommended replacement part. The original capacitor was also replaced. The fan wont start on its on. If you give it a slight push, it starts and runs. The condenser just hums as if to start but fails to take off, tries again (hums) after a couple of minutes and still fails. What could be wrong.
The other thing is the electrical guy who made the part replacements says the outside unit is not suppossed to run during winter, BUT it does. Could this be a wiring problem. How can I isolate the problem, its burning here. The Model number for the lennox is 10HPB30-9p
What can one man do ?

Make sure a power surge didn't fry a capacitor lead from the contactor.

I would say it's either wired wrong or the cap is defective.
Xenos.
The best way to escape a problem is to solve it.

As for the fan motor, are you sure on the wiring that it is wired correctly? And the unit will run during the winter because a 10HPB is a heat pump.
