Hi all! In my house I have a gas furnace and central air. I am replacing the existing thermostat with a newer one that I have. The existing control system is a 2 transformer system, have both Rc and Rh leads to the thermostat. The new thermostat has only one R input terminal...can I use Rc or Rh (ie. the cooling or heating signal tranformer) for both heating and cooling systems? ie. make use of only one transformer?
Basically, I have a new thermostat with only 4 (R,Y,W,G) input terminals...my old one had 5 (Rc,Rh,W,O,G). Can I still use my new thermostat to replace the old?
Any advice would help!

You would either have to rewire your low voltage ( 24v ) for a one transformer system or get a thermostat for a 5 wire two transformer system. The thermostat you have is only for a 4 wire system.
Keep Cool!
