Hello guys. I need some help, and I know you guys are the people with the knowledge. I had to replace an old manual thermostat because the internal connections went bad. [the small metal ball/socket combos] I got a Hunter digital model 44260. The installation manual for the thermostat says it can handle the following configurations: - 4-wire Heat/Cool System - 5-wire Heat/Cool System - Single-Stage Heat Pump System - 2-wire Heat Only System - 3-wire Heat Only System - 3-wire Cool Only System With Connections labelled - G - Rc - Rh - Y/O - W/B - Y1
I have a Bryant 350 MAV. I believe it's a 5-wire Heat/Cool System. [is that a correct assumption?] It has the following connections: - C - Blue - W - White - Y - Yellow - R - Red - G - Green First question is are they compatible? Second is, I wired it but the A/C doesn't come on. I hear the relay in the Thermostat kick for a call for Cooling. Still, no AC. Is there a way I can similate a call for cooling at the control board to by-pass thermostat for troubleshooting purposes?

Yes it's a 4 wire, common is not counted as it's not used on most thermostats

That is a 4-wire Heat/Cool System. You will need the Rh-Rc jumper then the cooling will run. The C -Blue connection is a common and won't be needed if the new thermostat is battery powered.

Hey, thanks, TechMaster & Xenos!
As it turns out, that was only part of my problem. First of all, I followed your lead. Modified my connections... lo and behold, the furnace fan kicked in as it should when the call for cooling was present. However, it just blew air. =( The A/C didn't kick on. After much troubleshooting and much ohming out and volt checking found the outside pullout switch to the AC unit had also gone bad. It somehow lost continuity. I can jiggle [carefully] the pullout part to get intermittent connection. [I can see the led light come on on the outside A/C unit intermittently.] But can't get the continuity of power to stay on even with tweeking the part. Going to replace that part. It's part plastic and part metal. The metal was covered with electrical grease to minimize sparking and such. It was the plastic part that cracked and loosened the metal part. Thus, it didn't mate properly into the receptical. [Oh, I was careful around the hi voltage - removing power at the Circ brkr when needed.] Hey, thanks Again! I wouldn't have gotten this far w/o your help! [Sorry for the long post. =-) Just happy to have A/C again! ]
