we have a new bryant gas furnace and a/c. The first time we tried to use the a/c, as I was setting the thermostat to cool, the display on the thermostat went out completely and we have not been able to get it back. It has 5 wires connected, white connected to W, green connected to G, red connected to R, blue connected to C, and yellow connected to Y. There is no wire connected to O, but we noticed an orange wire sitting behind the thermostat not connected to anything. Should this orange wire be connected?

I think something is shorted in the A/C and you just blew the furnace fuse.

That's what I was thinking too. So if I replace the fuse do you think it will be OK?

Thanks for your help!

The most common cause would be a shorted contactor coil.
