I have a honeywell heat pump thermostat I have had for 2 years. The 7 day programmable kind. Today the display was totally blank as if no power was being supplied to the unit. I reset the breakers and it didnt fix the problem. I tried changing out the digital to an older honeywell heat pump thermostat from out of a mobile home to use temporarily until I could get another honeywell programmable one. The wire lettering is different. I took pictures of the wires as they were hooked up .. one came from my ex husbands mobile home. I have a picture of the wire layout. I connected the same colors as his was hooked up. (he just got a new heatpump and thermostat) A few wires are different. the brown, white, orange and blue are on a different letter.
can anyone please help.. I need my air conditioning back. I get heat right now when I turn the switch on. the settings are on cool. the white wire is currently on W1 but was on W2 the brown was on E on the digital.. and was set on W1 on the older one. orange was on O.. but is now on X
thanks so much
Boo

If your set on cool and your getting heat, then you need to power the O terminal for the reversing valve. The orange wire needs to be taken off X and put back on O. If this doesn't help, then you need to get model numbers off the equipment, thermostats, and list what wires are on each terminal.
Keep Cool!

I tried everything I could last night to get the old mercury thermostat to make the air come on to no avail. This morning I got a new digital thermostat like the one that quit and the air is working now.
thanks
