Going to have a basic 3 ton Trane system installed (XB-10, model #2TTB0036A)
I need to know what kind of electrical I need. I know I need (or should have) a dedicated 220 line, but I'm not sure what amp for the new disconnect? I'm confused because I hear they are rated for certain amps (30) but I've also heard of "overcurrent", so I want to make sure I get it straight.
If it's dedicated, can I assume I just get the amps the condensor is rated for (I think 30 amps), since nothing else will be on that 220 line?

A 30 AMP circuit is fine, but it must be dedicated to the condenser. If there are any special power requirements it will be in the installation guide and the sales rep would (should) have made that known.
Save the cost of a service call...Check the "DUMB STUFF" FIRST!!!!!
