Thank you for this site, and thank you "backyard mech" for directing me to ariprimenet data, which was very useful.
Eventually I found my system listed in ariprimenet, and I think it really is a 12 SEER. It's possible I did not quote all the system's model numbers in my first inquiry here - there are several components.
Any further thoughts? Here is what they show:

Yes you may have ommitted the RBHK-24. If you have this model plus the RCHA-48A1. Then the system can produce 12 SEER. The ARI reference # that I previously looked up was 474667 based on the initial information. Sounds like your contractor is shooting straight with you!

According to ariprimenet this combination of coil and heatpump cannot produce more than 11.15 actual SEER.

Rheem's website does not contain this information (or please direct me, since I've looked).
The gentleman who sold it to me is full of assurances but no backup. That's why I'm inquiring here. I hope that the model numbers provided in my first inquiry here will possibly lead someone to look up this information, if they can spare the time and would be so kind.
Thanks.

I can get no more information than you can. If this was a Lennox, Carrier, Trane, Bryant…. I could help out. however Rheem I can’t. I only have access to main line Hvac equipment. Here Rheem is sold and distrubuted by a plumbing network other than HVAC.

In the engineering data. The Seer data marked on the label is only a guide line. The Seer depends on what coil is used and how much air flow is being supplied through that coil.
