I worked at the Lennox dealership. I worked at the Rheem dealership. Installed tons of both brands. I have to side with Rheem, hands down.

I guess it all depends on who sell the parts and supports the product localy? Here Rheem is sold through a plubbing wholesaler (middle man) where as Lennox is sold and supported through Lennox.

When I worked installing Lennox's the G23's were the new ones back then. Man, I never had so many problems with new units in my life! Bad controls, 'miswired from the factory!', all sorts of stuff. The Pulse too, I don't even need to go into the Pulse, do I? ;>)

Any manufacturer can have even a bad run of units though. My big beef with Lennox is not being able to stock parts for them. They'll let me order parts (as long as I have the Model & serial number for the unit its going on!) I call bunk on that. There's lots of Lennox's in this town so that's the unfairness to the customer who buys their equipment, on the cold day that their unit goes down of course the Lennox guys are busy so they always have to wait on me to chase down their parts. Amana is the same way...unless you're an 'authorized dealer' you cant stock parts.

Rheem's not stuffy about it. Carrier wont let anyone sell the residential wquipment without being a dealer, but they'll let you buy all the parts you want, cept for some stuff that you have to be certified in like zoning boards and such.
