I have a Trane Heat Pump and A/C unit Model# WVX042A100A in that the cycle will not produce any heat when the thermostat shows that it has been cycled in or manually requested on the thermostat. Is there anything that I can check before calling someone?

Thanks

I checked the breakers on unit and were not tripped. The heat pump works fine by it self. Anything else that can be checked?

Thanks

On my White-Rodgers thermostat, the R was jumped to W1 and it did run. What is this telling me?

Thanks

If jumping the thermost starts the unit but it wont on it's own I would say it's the stat.

I'm very good in repairing but no experience about the components of this heat pump. If this doesn't appear that this stat replacement requires an expert in the field to do the job,I would very much like to do it but have a few questions:

1.A rough estimate what the cost of the stat would be:
2.Where is the stat located, how is it anchored, and how is it
normally connected to its' wire leads? Is there anywhere on
the internet that can give a picture of the stat's probable
location?

3.Where's the best place to buy a stat?

Thanks

You obviously know where it is.

So the stat is in my "Broken" White-Rodgers Thermostat.

Can you recommend a real good replacement and a source to get it from?

We are going to be getting back into the low 30's mornings and would like to hook up an older thermostat until I get a new replacement. This older unit has Emergency/Aux. Heat. The unit is a Trane XT500 Weathertron but uncertain it's wiring from my White-Rodgers:

White-Rodgers

Wire to Thermostat

Orange-O
Yellow-Y1 that also has a black jumper to W1
Blue-C
Green-G
Red-R
White-W2 that also has a light brown jumper to E1

The XT 500 Terminals:

R
B
O
F
Y
X2
W1
G

Thank you
