My AC was working but over time it slowly started to blow out warmer air. My Neighbor installs new AC units so he came over to charge my system. He told us it was low on pressure and charged the system. Now when the AC starts the fan comes on and the compressor comes on goes right off and comes back on constantly. It only runs for about 3 seconds and then goes right back off for about another 5 seconds(cooling fan stays on). I dont know much about AC systems, but does this sound like he over charged it or maybe another problem.

How did he know your AC was low on refrigerant in the first place? How clean are the coils? Did he actually charge the unit or did he remove some of the refrigerant? Your unit can be high cut or low cut now. If it is being high cut, then clean the condensing coil. If it is being low cut, you need to properly charge the unit. Either way you will have to spend some money. Depending how much $$$ and time, it is better to have a pro to look at it. It may only cost you ~ $100 to clean the condensing coil or you may end up spending more because your neighbor was messing around with it. Good luck!

He has a set of guages and said it was low and he said he added freon to the system. What do you mean by my unit can be high cut or low cut and would being high or low cut cause the compressor to do that?
