Hello all !
I am replacing a Trane BAYSTAT239 thermostat with a Climatouch C3 which I just purchased. The unit outside is a Trane High Efficiency XE 800. Based on other entires I have reviewed I believe I have a good handle on maping the wire connections from my BAYSTAT to the Climatouch:
BAYSTAT..Color....Climatouch...Description X2...........Blue.....Unused........Aux. Heat During Defrost O............Orange.O/B/W.........Switch-over valve on HP G............Green...G...............Blower Y............Yellow...Y1.............Compressor T............Tan......Unused........Thermistor R............Red......R...............24V hot W...........White...W2..............Heat (Aux. heat with HP) B............Black....C.............Common F............Unused..n/a U............Unused..n/a..........Appears to be connected to W
Does this appear correct ? The mapping seems straight forward except with X2/W on the Trane, did I map the correct one to W2? Do I need to do anything with X2?
The Climatouch has a setting which allows me to force the HP off when the furnace is activated, the default is to leave the HP on, do I need to change this ? It is described as a heat pump protection circuit that safeguards the compressor from damage when stage II heating is located upstream of the evaporator . I have no manuals, if I use the BAYSTAT to force the unit to activate the furnace and go outside to observe what the compressor does, is that reliable enough ?
My thanks for any responses.
Thanks ! - Louis

The wiring looks ok. Forget X2. The option is probably ok to let hp run with aux heat because changing the Thermostat won't change the furnace/coil setup.
