For the past 2 months I hear a drum type of noise on a set interval (2-3 seconds) from my home air conditioning system. The A/C works just fine and blows cool air. The unit is only 2 years old. Any ideas what may this noise be caused by?

Is the noise coming from a sink?
Do you have a heat pump or electric heat?
Some times installers forget to install a Ptrap coming out of the air handler.

I am not sure what you mean by sink but I do have a heat pump. Also, please explain what Ptrap is. Is this something I can do myself to fix or I need to call for a service? Any idea of how much will it cost me to get this fixed?

Thanks

Call the installer back and ask him if there is a proper P-trap in the system. Im assuming that you have a clean filter and there are no grills that are blocked.
If i had to install a P-trap i would do it for less than a $100.
If you do it wrong it could pour water all over the ceiling.
