i need to compare this units Carrier: 38 TZA 036 vs 38 ETG 036 vs 38 TSA 036 outdoor condensing unit 3 ton ,what is the SEER, and which is better. I want this Carrier furnace 58 MVP100,000 btu variable speed, then Infinity thermostat control, then LBP humidifier Carrier, then Flex type media air cleaner, i got prices from includes new sheet metal duct work, chimney liner for HW for $11,400-11,550- $12,250 , 10 yr waranty compressor and on labor & parts 10 yr. What you think? Job is in single story home 1500 sq ft,half basement finish ,in Chicago. Is this a good price?

All three units are rated at 14 SEER - acutal SEER depends on the indoor coil and metering device and ranges from a little below 11 to a little above 13. All three use Puron refrigerant, which is currently the accepted replacement for R22 and looks like it will continue to be so. I quickly glanced ocer the spec sheets for the three units and can't find significant differences between them - The energy savings between 12 SEER and 13 SEER is probably about $50-$60 per year depending on usage so over 15 years, would the savings pay for the difference in price - I would ask the contractor to show you the actual attainable seer rating for the matched equipment - this information is available in a chart that lists different combinations of coils and furnaces with each AC unit - Here are links to the three spec sheets for those AC uniots so you can print them out and look at them for yourself
