My furnace is a York diamond 90 gas furnace. It is 10 years old. Most of the time it ignites very quietly but every once in awhile it has a very violent ignition. it sounds like someone hit there hands on the ductwork in the basement. I have already heard this on the second floor while lying in bed at night. I have had 3 different servicemen out on this in the last 3 years. It never happens while they are there. One serviceman said my vent pipes were to long, although they were within the spec I had. I didn't argue so I changed the vent pipe. It now is only 10 feet long and has four 2" 90 degree elbows. It did not solve the problem. The second guy said there was a blockage in the vent. I told him I moved the vent and I did not think this was the problem. I cut the vent pipe at the furnace and put my shop vac on it. there was no blockage. The third guy said I had a bad ignitor and gas valve. He changed this and it seemed to work ok for the rest of the winter. that was last year. This year after running the furnace for two days my wife heard it, and then I heard it while lying in bed about 2 nights later. any suggestions! Thanks

Have a servicetech remove and check the burners and their ports/crossovers for corrosion/debris etc. Wash them out in hot soapy water. Get him to check the manifold gas pressure and make sure the HSI igniter is in the correct position. May have a picture of it in the service manual. If he used an shorter aftermarket type that may be the problem. Also check the resistance in ohms of the igniter. Should usually be between 50-70 ohms. If higher it may take too long to warmup or not get hot enough to ignite the gas properly/quickly. If he doesn't know any of this call another one.

Two things.
Is your flame sensor clean?
Are your burners clean?
I can give you all reasons of your problems.
But they only can make me money.
Ask questions.
