I have a Goodman 92K BTU 2 stage, 4 ton FAU. My return grill and filter is 16x25 connected to one 12" and 0ne 6" round return air ducts back to the return plenum approximately 5 feet in lenghth. Air velocity through the filter is quite loud. The house is old (1930) and not very tight. I would like to put a make-up air duct into the return plenum through a filter located in the basement which is well ventilated and semi conditioned where the FAU is located. The house is located in Marin County California, so I don't think I need to preheat the make-up air. Is this a good idea; will it work: how will it affect efficiency? Appreciate any input. Thanks Dan

You most diffently need more return air. You do not have enough if I understand you right. Only a 12" and a 6" connected to a 16X25 grill. You need atleast two more 12" added. For a 4 tn system you need 1600 cfm you are not even 900 cfm
