I have a High effeciency Gas furnace. The Exhaust fan start hitting the exclosure as it started up..Once it got spinning it would quiet down.

I took this off and wonder how i can keep the impeller from sliding all over the Motor shaft..

It hard to explain here but does anybody know what i am taking about and what this looks like.. Maybe if i can post a picture, i can better explain this. or if you have a similar furnace.. Its just a black plastic inclosure they hooks up to a 2 inch plastic pipe to vent out exhaust and there is a small motor., and a Condensation hose hooks to the bottom of it.

Thanks Rick

Rick, the blower should not hit the enclosure. If the blower moves back and forth on the shaft of the motor, there is a hold-down clip missing. Check inside the housing or in the condensate drain. If the whole shaft moves back and forth, you are looking at a new inducer assembly.

If they don't find ya handsome nor handy surgery may help!

The Metal Clip is there, but it doesnt seem to do much.. Maybe i better try and get another one..
There is also a rubber cap to cover the end.

You seem to understand the design of this furnace..Its called the Compact 90 .
I want to oil the blower motor and i am not sure how to get at it. It looks like i should just loosen the Cold air Duct where the filter is.. I know the Blower is there..I cannot see any other compartment.
How does a yearly maintance workman do this on most furnaces .It cannot be that complicated, for them to be in and out in less than one hr
